BLADENBORO – Fairmont’s Derrick Baker and Jamearos McLeod combined to run for 262 yards and 5 touchdowns to lead the Golden Tornadoes to a 46-0 Three Rivers Conference football victory over West Bladen.

Baker, a sophomore, dashed 53 yards for a first period touchdown that gave Fairmont an 8-0 lead after McLeod ran the 2-point conversion. McLeod dove over from a yard out in the second quarter to pad the Tornado lead to 14-0 at halftime.

The Knights drove to the Fairmont 4 yard line 4 minutes before halftime but 2 sacks and an incomplete pass ended the drive.

Baker sprinted 24 yards for a third quarter score that boosted the Fairmont lead to 22-0 after Tyler Locklear passed to Jahkeem Moore for the conversion. Baker galloped 46 yards to begin the final quarter, and McLeod ran the 2-point conversion for a 30-0 lead.

Fairmont’s Collen Taylor returned a West Bladen fumble 53 yards for a touchdown, and McLeod carried for the 2-point conversion and a 38-0 lead. McLeod tacked on a 2-yard TD run, and Cameron Harrington ran the conversion for a 46-0 final.

Baker carried 9 times for 156 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Tornadoes. McLeod finished with 16 carries for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns.

West Bladen quarterback Tyre Boykin rushed for 40 yards on 11 attempts in the second half after not playing in the first half (coach’s decision).

The Knights (0-3) will travel to Red Springs on Friday night.
