RED SPRINGS – An 18-0 East Bladen second-period blitz propelled the Lady Eagles to a 55-9 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball victory over Red Springs Tuesday night.

Senior Patience Ward posted a double-double of 21 points and 11 steals to lead East Bladen. Sophomore Alexus Mitchell pumped in 15 points and dished out 3 assists.

Sophomore Mya McDonald filled the stat sheet with 10 points, 6 steals and 3 assists for the winners. Junior Sara Gargala grabbed 4 rebounds and scored 4 points. Senior Lorna Mendell blocked 3 shots, and junior Katie Evans had 3 steals.

East Bladen built a 14-4 first quarter lead then blew the game open with the second quarter run that pushed the lead to 32-4.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improved to 3-0 in the TRC and 6-0 overall. East Bladen will travel to Jacksonville Northside Thursday night.
