LAKE WACCAMAW – Hope Freeman and Tia Campbell sparked a 23-6 third quarter run that propelled East Columbus to a 57-37 non-conference girls basketball victory over East Bladen Tuesday night.

Freeman drained a trio of 3-point shots in the quarter and Campbell threw in 4 baskets as the Lady Gators grew a 27-22 halftime lead to 50-28,

Campbell led the winners with 18 points and tall Charity Powell followed with 16 points. Freeman’s third quarter barrage accounted for all of her points.

Junior Shardajah Brown nailed a 3-point shot, and freshman Patience Ward tossed in a pair of first quarter baskets that kept the Lady Eagles within 12-7 at the quarter break.

Senior Emily Scott worked the paint for a trio of East Bladen baskets in the second quarter. Ward and sophmore Ashley Hardin threw in 2 baskets each in the quarter to keep the margin at 27-22.

Scott dropped in 2 more buckets in the third period, and junior Kaley Smith tallied a couple of fourth quarter baskets.

Ward and Scott shared scoring honors for East Bladen with 10 points each. Scott grabbed 7 rebounds, and Ward had 3 steals.

Sophmore Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson dished out 7 assists and added 5 rebounds and 5 points. Hardin pulled down 8 rebounds, and senior Yolanda Coston corralled 6 rebounds.
