DUNN – Midway scored 4 goals in the 2nd half to snap a 1-1 tie and claim a 5-2 Southeastern Athletic Conference girls’ soccer victory over West Bladen Tuesday night.
West Bladen, now 0-2 in the SAC and 1-4-1 overall, will host a rematch with Midway Friday night. It was the SAC opener for the Lady Raiders who are 1-11 overall.
Junior Jazmy Funez Aranda drilled in a goal in each half for the Lady Knights, and senior Brookee’ Singletary assisted on both of the West goals. Funez Aranda was credited with 3 shots, and freshman Ashley Baiza Rivon fired off 1 shot.
Junior Ashley Sanchez Resendiz sparked the Lady Knight defense with 9 steals. Singletary, senior Shamaria Jackson and junior Anna Campbell came up with 7 steals each. Sophomores Makenna Thurman and Leidi Zuniga Labra finished with 6 steals each, and sophomore Faith Wren, Funez Aranda and Baiza Rivon had 4 steals each.
