BLADENBORO – West Bladen and Midway battled to a scoreless tie for 55 minutes Friday night before a thunderstorm knocked out the lights. The Southeastern Athletic Conference girls’ soccer match will be declared a tie as play was unable to continue.
West Bladen is now 0-3-1 in SAC play and 1-5-2 overall. The Lady Knights will host St. Pauls Tuesday night. Midway is now 1-0-1 in the SAC and 1-10-1 overall.
Senior Briana Carranza Toledo recorded 8 saves in goal for the Lady Knights. Sophomore Makenna Thurman sparked the West defense with 6 steals, and sophomore Faith Wren came up with 5 steals. Seniors Brookee’ Singletary and Shamaria Jackson finished with 4 steals each. Juniors Anna Campbell, O’Mara McDonald and Jazmy Funez Aranda collected 3 steals each.
