BLADENBORO – Sophomore Eliana Padilla drilled in the game’s only goal off of a feed from junior Kaden Thurman as West Bladen edged East Columbus 1-0 Thursday night in non-conference girls’ soccer action.
“Kaden took a free kick and played it short around their wall,” said Lady Knight Coach Kristen Parker. “Eliana placed it in the back of the net from about 25 yards out.”
Sophomore goalkeeper Briana Carranza Toledo played the 1st 20 minutes of the opening half, but was sidelined by an injury. Senior Hannah Hester replaced her and worked the final 60 minutes in goal to complete the shutout.
“We controlled much of the game – keeping the ball on their end,” noted Parker. “We had several good looks and I don’t even know how many shots on goal – but only one found the back of the net.”
The Lady Knights evened their record at 1-1 and will host East Bladen Friday at 6 p.m.
