DUBLIN – Freshman Josefina Taboda and senior Melennie Hernandez fired in goals as West Bladen defeated South Columbus 2-1 Tuesday night in their Three Rivers Conference girls soccer season opener.

Sydney Pickell turned an assist from Madison Grigsby into a goal in the tenth minute of play to put South Columbus ahead 1-0.

Taboda tied the game 1-1 with an unassisted goal, and Hernandez knocked in an unassisted goal that put the Lady Knights ahead to stay.

Sophmore Alyssa Smith recorded four saves in goal for the Lady Knights. Junior Hannah Arnett led West Bladen with 4 shots on goals. Hernandez had 2 shots on goal.

It was the first win of the season for Coach Kristen Parker’s Lady Knights.
