FAIRMONT – West Bladen’s Daniel Gustafson fired a 79 to narrowly miss medalist honors by a single stroke and his West Bladen Knights were 2nd in the team competition Monday at Fairmont Golf Club.

It was the best finish of the season for the Knights who posted a 336 total to finish 2nd to Midway’s 324. Clinton was 3rd with a 349 followed by host Fairmont (390) and St. Pauls (454). Red Springs only had 3 golfers competing and didn’t qualify for the team competition.

Medalist Finn Howard carded a 78 to edge Gustafson and Midway’s Kaison Marley by a single stroke. Midway’s Jonathan Stephenson was next with an 80, and Raider teammates Ryan Naylor (82) and Dakota Bedard (83) were 5th and 6th.

West Bladen’s Colin Britt and Ben Davis tied for 7th place with identical 85s. Knight golfer Seth Faircloth placed 11th with an 87, and teammate Nolan Sessoms tied for 12th with an 88.

Monday’s match will be held at Scothurst Golf Course in Lumber Bridge.
