Harmony Hall Plantation Village Inc. invited folks to step back in time to a time when life was simpler and slower as the volunteers and staff conducted their annual Christmas Open House on Saturday.

The gates opened to the public at 9 a.m. and a program of Christmas, Gospel and Country music by Al Rackly and the Family Tradition greeted folks along with demonstrations of plantation life.

The East Bladen High School History Club was joined by members of the West Bladen High School History Club to assist with tours of the home, demonstrating period games and decorations.

There was also a cooking demonstration and the Boy Scout Troop of Dublin held a barbecue plate fundraiser.  There was also a cannon firing demonstration throughout the day and tar and pitch demonstrations.

An opening ceremony took place at noon that included a reading of the Christmas story, a moment of silence for the many volunteers and supporters who have passed away and a musket volley.

The highlight of the day was the battle re-enactment which took place about 2 p.m.  This demonstration pitted volunteers against well-equipped “professional” soldiers.

The program will continue on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. Also, on Sunday there will be a worship service at 1 p.m. at the Harmony Hall Chapel. All are welcome to attend.
