An 8-run, third inning rally propelled East Bladen to an 11-5 non-conference jayvee baseball victory over visiting South Robeson Monday.
After the Mustangs scored twice in the top of the first, Greyson Heustess reached base on a one-out error. After a ground-out Dan Tatum’s hit plated Heustess, and Tatum scored the tying run on an error.
South Robeson took a 4-2 lead into the home half of third, but Shy Pone and Heustess smacked singles to start the inning. Pierce Melvin drew a walk, and Spencer Scott and Bernard Robinson were both hit by pitches to force in 2 runs.
Eric Chancey and Scott Howell drew walks that forced home 2 more runs.
Holden Clark belted a run-scoring single, and Pone hammered a double to drive in 2 more runs as the Eagles went up 10-4.
Scott walked and scored the final Eagle run in the fourth inning.
Pone batted 2-3 with a double, 2 runs batted in and a run scored. Heustess cracked a single and scored twice. Clark also smacked a run-scoring single and scored a run.
Scott scored two runs, and Melvin, Tatum, Robinson, Howell and Chancey scored one run each.
Scott started on the mound for East and pitched 2 innings, striking out five and allowing 4 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. Pone worked the final 2 innings on the mound and picked up the win. Pone allowed a run on a hit and 3 walks, while striking out four.
The Eagles, now 1-0, will travel to Red Springs Wednesday for a 4 p.m.
