ELIZABETHTOWN- Unbeaten East Bladen exploded for 8 runs in the 1st inning and raced to their 8th straight win Friday night – a 16-5 Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball victory over Red Springs.

Coach Kenzil McCall’s Eagles improve to 3-0 in TRC play and 8-0 overall. East Bladen will travel to West Columbus Thursday at 4 p.m.

The visiting Red Devils bunched 5 hits and a walk, including doubles by Tim Hammonds and Tedder to take a 4-0 1st inning lead, but the Eagles roared back in the bottom of the inning.

Tyler Johnson and Darius Williamson drew walks and both of them scampered home when Garrison Tatum blasted a triple. Britt Sasser belted a single that plated Tatum, and Parker Greene and Jmarius Smith smacked singles that brought home Sasser with the tying run.

Lee Barnes, Kalec Autry and Johnson drew walks that forced home Greene and Smith with the go-ahead runs. Walks to Tatum and Zamar Lewis forced home Barnes and Autry and grew the Eagle lead to 8-4.

Greene and Smith started the East 2nd inning with back-to-back singles. Autry drove in Greene with a single, and walks to Johnson and Tatum forced home Smith with the run that padded the lead to 10-4.

Natoren Corbett drew a 1-out walk in the Eagle 3rd inning, and Greene swatted a single. Nathan Howell walked, and Autry drove in Corbett and Greene with a single as the lead grew to 12-4.

The Red Devils bunched a trio of 2-out singles to score a 4th inning run and whittle the margin to 12-5.

Tatum slugged a solo home run to begin the East Bladen 4th inning. Lewis and Corbett smashed singles, and Greene hammered a double that plated Lewis. Howell then delivered a walk-off single that scored Corbett and Greene and ended the game on the mercy rule.

Barnes went the distance on the mound for the Eagles allowing 5 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks while striking out three.

Greene batted a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, 4 runs scored and a run batted in to lead the Eagle hitters. Tatum knocked in 4 runs with a home run, a triple and a bases-loaded walk and scored twice. Smith finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a RBI and 2 runs scored.

Autry connected for 2 singles, drove in 3 runs and scored a run. Howell drove in 2 runs with his game-ending single. Lewis and Sasser delivered run-scoring singles, and Johnson and Corbett contributed 1 hit each to the 15-hit Eagle attack.

Corbett scored 2 runs for the winners, and Johnson, Williamson, Lewis, Sasser, and Barnes scored 1 run each.

Tedder batted 2-for-2 with a double to lead the Red Devil offense. Teammate Jaydon Hammonds finished 2-for-3 with a double. Pitcher Tim Hammonds also doubled for the visitors.
