CERRO GORDO – West Bladen’s boys and girls teams won their 2nd consecutive Three Rivers Conference Track & Field meet Thursday over South Columbus and West Columbus.

The Knight boys piled up 60 points to win by a 22-point margin over South Columbus and by 23 points over West Columbus. West Bladen outscored the Stallions by 23 points in the field events and outscored the Vikings by 19 in the field events and by 10 points in the distance races.

The Lady Knights rolled to a 72-26 victory over the runner-up South squad. The Viking girls only tallied 2 points. West Bladen outscored the Lady Stallions by 21 points in the sprints and by 21 points in the hurdles.

Sophomore Deonte Lacey was the only individual double-event winner for the Knight boys. Lacey hurled the discus 72 feet, 7 inches and tossed the shot 35 feet 1 inch to win both events.

Senior ShyRon Adams leaped 19 ft. 4.5 in. to win the long jump, placed 2nd in the 200 meters (24.9 seconds) and 3rd in the 100 meters (11.5 sec.) to score 10 points for the Knights.

Junior Josiah Brown took 1st place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.1 seconds, placed 2nd in the 400 meters (57.7 sec.) and captured 4th place in the 110 meter hurdles (22.3 sec.) to tally 9 points for the Knights.

Senior Donovan Stone claimed 1st place honors in the 800 meters with a time of 2 min. 33 sec. and was 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 18 ft. 8 in. Junior Keegan Haraldson won the 1600 meters (5 min. 27 sec.) and finished 3rd in the 400 meters (57.8 sec.).

Sophomore Xavier Lopez took 2nd place honors in the discus with a throw of 64 feet, and was also 2nd in the shot put with a heave of 34 ft. 10 in. Junior Bradley Taylor placed 3rd in the 1600 meters (6 min. 26 sec.).

Junior Demarius Robinson was 4th in the shot put (31 ft. 6 in.). Teammate Lorenza Rogers took 4th place in the 200 meters (26.9 sec.). The West Bladen 4×100 meter relay team finished 2nd (50.4 sec.) and the 4×200 meter relay team was also 2nd (1 min.56 sec.). Sophomore Gary Parker also competed for the Knights.

Senior Tinyauh Rhoda racked up 13 points to lead the Lady Knights. Rhoda won both the sprints taking the 100 meters in 12.9 seconds and the 200 meters in 27.9 seconds. She also claimed 2nd place in the 300-meter hurdles (1 min. 1.9 sec.).

Junior Jessalyn Vendrick was another double-event winner for the Lady Knights. Vendrick won both of the throwing events, taking the discus with a throw of 86 ft. 2 in. and winning the shot put with a heave of 31 ft. 6 in.

Freshman Trinity VanEyken also scored 10 points winning the 300-meter hurdles in 1 min. 1.9 sec. VanEyken placed 2nd in the 100-meter hurdles (20.3 sec.) and 3rd in the 200 meter dash (31.2 sec.).

Sophomore Azilliyah McDonald posted a 1st place finish for the Lady Knights in the 100-meter hurdles (20.0 sec.). The West Bladen 4×100 meter relay team won their event with a time of 56.7 sec.

Sophomore Makayla Wright captured 2nd place in the 100 meters (14.8 sec.) and 2nd in the 400 meters (1 min. 17 sec.). Junior India Haskins took 2nd place in the shot put with a heave of 22 ft. 10 in. and was 3rd in the discus (44 ft. 8 in.).

Sophomore Shanyla Hunter totaled 8 points for West finishing 2nd in the 200 meters (30.9 sec.), 3rd in the 100 meters (14.2 sec.), 3rd in the 400 meters (1 min. 17 sec.) and 4th in the 100-meter hurdles (22.3 sec.).

Senior Emily Pait claimed 2nd place in the 3200 meters (22 min. 40 sec.) and 3rd in the 1600 meters (9 min. 32 sec.). Junior Alicia Lawson placed 3rd in the 100-meter hurdles (22.1 sec.) and 4th in the 400 meters (1 min. 27 sec.). Freshman Annabell Horrigan captured 3rd place in the 300-meter hurdles (1 min. 2.6 sec.).

Coach Stanley Williams’ Knights will travel to Red Springs on June 3rd for their next meet.
