TABOR CITY — Isaiah Lee walloped a double to left field and scored the go-ahead run as Tyler Eason reached base on an error in the 6th inning that lifted East Bladen to a 5-4 Waccamaw Conference jayvee baseball victory over South Columbus Friday.

Coach James Ben Daly’s Eagles improved to 1-0-1 in Waccamaw play and 2-1-2 overall. The Eagles will host East Columbus Tuesday. South Columbus will host West Bladen Monday.

Zach Sholar pitched a complete game 5-hitter and struck out 4 to pick up the win for the Eagles. The right-hander allowed 4 runs on 5 hits and 5 walks.

Sholar batted 3-for-3 with a double, a run batted in and 2 runs scored to lead the East hitters. Lee and Levi Harrellson slammed doubles, and Torrean Cogdell swatted a single. Cogdell, Braylon Cromartie and Lee scored runs, and Cogdell, Colton Daly and Lee knocked in runs.

The Eagles jumped in front with 2 runs in the 1st inning. Sholar ripped a double to left field, and Cogdell was hit by a pitch. Sholar advanced on a wild pitch then scored on Daly’s fielder’s choice. Lee launched a sacrifice fly to right that plated Cogdell.

South tied the game in the bottom of the inning on 2 walks, an error and Briar Johnson’s single. The Stallions took a 3-2 lead in the 2nd as K. Burchette doubled and scored on a fielder’s choice.

East tied the game 3-3 in the 3rd. Sholar laced a single to center field, stole a base and advanced on an error before darting home when Cogdell yanked a single to left.

The Eagles edged ahead 4-3 in the 5th. Harrellson hammered a double to center, and his pinch-runner Cromartie scored when Sholar smoked a single to shortstop.

South evened the score with a run in the home 5th. Levi Stocks walked, stole a base and scored on Colton Allen’s single.

Allen pitched a complete game 6-hitter for the Stallions and allowed 5 runs – 3 earned – on 6 hits while striking out 4.

Johnson batted 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Stallions. Burchette doubled, and A. Sumner and Allen had 1 hit each. Stocks scored twice, and Allen and Burchette scored runs. Allen and N. Thompson added RBIs.
