BLADENBORO – Sophomore Jackson Campbell pitched a 3-hit shutout and struck out 6 to lead Midway to a 10-0 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee baseball victory over West Bladen Friday.
Since West Bladen and Midway are the only 2 Southeastern Athletic Conference teams that field jayvee teams, this is scheduled to be the final game of the season for the West jayvees who currently own a 1-7-1 record.
Jonah Bryan led off with a single, and Caison Brixey walked in the Knight 1st inning but both were left on base. Kaleb Gaddy hammered a 2-out double to right field in the Knight 2nd inning, but a pop fly ended the inning.
Noah German reached base on an error in the West 5th inning, and Jonah Bryan raked a single to left, but a fly out ended the inning.
Jonah Bryan batted 2-for-3 to lead the Knights at the plate, and Gaddy slammed a double.
Greyson Freeman started and pitched 2 innings for West allowing 4 runs – 3 earned – on a hit and 4 walks while striking out 2. Chase Bryan worked 1 inning of relief allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and a walk while striking out 1. Brixey pitched 0.1 innings and gave up 3 runs – 1 earned – on a hit and 3 walks. Aidan Trinidad finished up with 2.2 innings of relief allowing a run on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2.
Harrison Honeycutt batted 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Raiders. Harrison Johnson was 2-for-5 with a run batted in. Jackson Warrick, Campbell and Wilson Mayo collected 1 hit each. Mayo had 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Warrick had 3 RBIs, and Campbell had 2 RBIs.
