Ian Sykes went 3-for-3 with a double and a pair of runs batted in and the West Bladen junior varsity erupted for seven runs in the fourth inning in an 11-3 win against South Robeson on Wednesday in a junior varsity baseball game.

Caleb Sholar pitched four innings to earn the win on the mound for the Knights, who are 2-1. The right-hander struck out seven, gave up four hits and three runs, and walked two. Derrick Long didn’t allowed a run in the fifth inning.

Jonathan Robinson was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, Jonathan Ashworth had a hit and two runs batted in. Jeremy Pait and Sholar each had a hit for West Bladen.

The game was tight after 3 1/2 innings with West Bladen leading 4-3, but the Knights sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth and scored seven runs for an 11-3 lead. Robeson, Sholar, Sykes, T.J. Guyton and Ashworth each had RBIs during the rally. West Bladen also took advantage of five hit batters in the inning.

West Bladen is scheduled to play at West Columbus on Saturday at 1 p.m.
