BLADENBORO- Tyler Lewis drew a bases-loaded walk that forced home Brady Marlowe with the winning run in the bottom of the 6th inning and lifted West Bladen to a 3-2 non-conference season-opening jayvee baseball victory over South Columbus Thursday.

Marlowe ripped a single past shortstop to start the winning rally. Keon Whittington walked, and Chase Bryan smacked a single to right field to load the bases. Two outs later Lewis drew the game-winning walk on 4 pitches.

Lewis and Weston Hilburn teamed up to pitch a 2-hitter and strike out 8 batters. Lewis worked 4 innings on the hill allowing a run on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5. Hilburn picked up the win with 2 innings of hitless relief giving up an unearned run, walking 1 and striking out 3.

Chase Bryan batted 2-for-2 with a run scored to lead the Knight hitters. Marlowe finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a run batted in and a run scored. Hilburn and Lewis had 1 RBI each, and Ryan Dove scored a run.

With West trailing 1-0 Dove walked in the 4th inning, advanced on a pair of passed balls and raced home with the tying run when Marlowe scorched a single through the middle.

Chase Bryan cracked a single to shortstop to begin the Knight 5th inning. Aiden Trinidad laid down a sacrifice bunt that advanced Bryan, and Lewis walked, before Hilburn poled a sacrifice fly to left that scored Chase Bryan and edged West in front 2-1.

South tied the game again 2-2 in the top of the 6th.

The Knights will travel to East Bladen Tuesday.
