ELIZABETHTOWN – Gregory Coxum scored 8 of his 10 points during a 15-4 2nd quarter run that propelled Clinton to a 40-29 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee boys’ basketball victory Friday over East Bladen.

Center Rodney Lacewell powered in a pair of early baskets for the Eagles , Zac Metz drained a 10-footer, and Lee Barnes buried a 2-point shot then a 3-point basket that gave East Bladen an 11-8 lead at the quarter break.

Lacewell and Shannon Hankins netted baskets in the 2nd quarter, but Clinton built a 23-15 halftime lead. Lacewell dominated the paint with 3 baskets and a free throw in the 3rd period, and Metz and Chace Butler threw in baskets to keep East within 36-26.

Sherman Long tossed in a basket, and Blaine Pope sank a free throw for the final Eagle points.

Lacewell led all scorers with 13 points for East. Barnes finished with 5 points, and Metz added 4. T. K. Raynor shared scoring honors with Coxum for Clinton with 10 points each.

The Eagle jayvees concluded their season with a 7-9 record.
