DUNN – Lee Barnes poured in 18 points Tuesday to lead East Bladen to a 38-36 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee boys basketball victory over Midway.

Barnes and teammate Jaylen Suggs both bombed in 3-point shots in the final period, and Barnes, Suggs and Zac Metz threw in 2-point baskets to keep the Eagles in front. Suggs totaled 8 points in the game for East, and Metz finished with 5 points.

Travis Gist topped the Raider scoring with 12 points, and Walker Holmes followed with 9 points.

Barnes fired in a 3-point shot, a pair of 2-point baskets and 2 free throws to spark the Eagles to an early 11-6. Teammate Chris Harding dropped in a basket for East in the period.

Metz and Suggs buried 3-point shots in the 2nd quarter for East, and teammate Chace Butler tossed in a basket as the Eagles held on to a 19-14 halftime lead. Sherman Long drilled in a 3-point shot for East in the 3rd quarter, and Barnes connected on all 4 of his foul shots.

Coach Aking Elting’s JV Eagles are now 4-5 in SAC-7 play and 7-7 overall. East Bladen will travel to Clinton Wednesday.
