ELIZABETHTOWN — Josiah Brown connected on 10 3-point field goals Friday night in leading Heide Trask to a 42-31 win against East Bladen in Waccamaw Conference junior varsity boys basketball game played on Patty Evers Court.
The Eagles are 6-5 in league play and 8-9 overall. East Bladen will close its season Tuesday at home against Whiteville.
Braylon Johnson led the Eagles with eight points.
Brown, a freshman, made three 3-pointers in the first and third quarters and a pair of long-range buckets in the second and fourth quarters.
Consecutive 3-pointers by Landon Scott and Ihon Thomas to open the second quarter pulled East Bladen within 13-10, but Trask scored the next 10 points for a 23-10 advantage with less than a minute remaining until half.
The Eagles scored the final seven points of the third quarter on a pair of baskets by Johnson and a 3-pointer by Braylon Cromartie that left Trask with a 34-25 lead.
A free throw by Johnson in the fourth quarter brought East Bladen within 34-26, but the Eagles couldn’t get any closer.
