ST PAULS — West Bladen exploded for 23 points in the final quarter and rallied from 11 points down to defeat St. Pauls’ 46-41 Friday in Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee boys’ basketball action.
Coach Joe Harris’ Knights improved to 5-3 in the SAC and evened their overall record at 8-8. West Bladen will visit Fairmont Tuesday. St. Pauls will travel to Clinton.
The Knights trailed 34-23 at the 3rd quarter break, but JaQuan Lesane bombed in a pair of 3-point shots, and Jamari Adams tossed in a trio of baskets. Damarion Bryant sank 3 free throws and a basket, and Ayden Williams popped in a basket then cashed in 2 free throws. Justin Spaulding flipped in a basket to complete the 23-7 rally.
Lesane led the Knights with 15 points, and Adams rang up 13 points. Bryant finished with 8 points, and Spaulding followed him with 6 points. Williams totaled 4 points.
Five points from Brandon Baldwin and a 3-ball from Devin Suggs sparked the Bulldogs to the early 15-7 lead. Adams buried a 3-point shot and another basket for West, and Spaulding pumped in a basket.
Lesane threw in a pair of baskets in the 2nd period. Bryant netted a basket and a free throw, and Spaulding connected on 2 foul shots to trim the Bulldog halftime lead to 21-16.
Four points from Tayvion Bethea and 3 from Baldwin helped the Bulldogs stretch their lead to 34-23. Lesane knocked down a 3-point shot and converted 2 free throws for West. Adams tacked on a basket.
Baldwin topped the Bulldog scoring with 12 points. Bethea followed with 6 points.
