A West Bladen shot in the final seconds rimmed out and Purnell Swett escaped with a 21-20 non-conference jayvee boys basketball victory at West Friday night.

Freshman Kerron Washington sank a free throw with 1:02 remaining to pull the Knights within a point, but the Knights were unable to convert on 3 separate possessions in the final minute.

Washington drained a 3-point shot in the third quarter and led the Knights with 7 points. Teammate Andrew Harris rang up all 4 of his points during a third quarter West Bladen rally.

Jaheim Lesane added 3 points to the Knight attack. The Knight jayvees travel to Union Tuesday for their Four County Conference opener. Gametime is 4:30 p.m.
