East Bladen High SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – Red Springs defeated East Bladen 39-34 Friday night in Three Rivers Conference jayvee boys basketball action.

Charles Brown pumped in a pair of first-quarter baskets, Corey McKoy nailed a 3-point shot and Tayshaun Berkeley tossed in a basket and a free throw to keep the Eagles within 12-11 at the quarter break.

Lefrederick Wooten knocked down a 3-point shot and 2 free throws to lead an 11-6 East Bladen surge that produced a 22-18 halftime lead. Brown and Juwan Baldwin contributed a basket each to the Eagle rally.

Red Springs answered with a 12-7 spurt that edged the Red Devils in front 30-29. Berkeley dropped in a basket and 2 free throws in the third quarter for the Eagles, and Corey McKoy popped in a basket.

Corey McKoy bombed in a 3-point shot in the final period, and Berkeley and Rasean McKoy sank free throws for East Bladen. However a 9-5 Red Devil run secured the victory.

Corey McKoy led the Eagle scoring with 10 points, and Berkeley followed with 8 points. Brown finished with 6 points, and Wooten added 5 points.

East Bladen will travel to West Columbus Thursday after the exam break.
