TABOR CITY- Center Tyleak Ballard and Jamari Adams-Peterson sparked a West Bladen closing rally that carried the Knights to a 37-34 non-conference jayvee boys’ basketball victory over South Columbus Wednesday.

The teams were tied 26-26 entering the final quarter, but Ballard worked inside for a trio of baskets, and Adams-Peterson nailed a 3-point shot and another basket to keep the Knights on top.

Elijah McCollum fired in all 10 of his points in the 1st half and led the Knights with 10 points. Gavin Elks tossed in all 9 of his points in the 1st half as West Bladen built a 19-16 halftime lead. Ballard finished with 8 points, and Adams-Peterson totaled 5 points.

McCollum, Elks, Cade Allen and Adams-Peterson drilled in 3-point shots for the winners. Javion Vereen topped the South scoring with 8 points, and Naz Hutchinson and Ryan Gore scored 6 points each.

Coach Matt Hill’s Knight jayvees, now 1-2, posted their initial win of the season after dropping a pair of narrow decisions. West Bladen will host West Columbus Friday.
