DUBLIN – Jadecus Register poured in 18 points to lead West Bladen to a 43-39 overtime victory over Union Wednesday night in non-conference jayvee basketball action.

The visiting Spartans led 36-29 early in the final quarter before the Knights rallied. Register drove to the basket for a trio of baskets and sank 2 free throws as West Bladen pulled even at 36-36.

Kendall Johnson dropped in a basket and Da’shawn Hines hit a free throw during the West Bladen rally.

Register began the overtime period with two free throws, and Donovan Stone drained a 3-point shot from the left corner to push the Knight lead to 41-36. Register connected on two more free throws as West Bladen held on for the win.

Stone finished with 8 points, and Johnson followed with 6 points.

Union raced to an early 16-6 lead in the first quarter. Ronald Thompson and Johnson scored baskets for West Bladen in the period. Register fired in a pair of second quarter baskets, and Johnson added a basket to keep West within 22-13 at halftime.

Stone nailed a 3-point shot in the third quarter, and Tyrese Retmar threw in a pair of baskets as the Knights closed to within 28-25. Hines drove for a basket and a free throw in the quarter.

It was the first win of the season for Coach Taurius Baker’s Knights who will host East Columbus Friday night.
