ELIZABETHTOWN – A 7-0 2nd period spurt carried Whiteville to a 16-8 lead en route to a 28-25 non-conference jayvee boys victory over East Bladen Friday.

Will Fisher sparked the Wolfpack to the early lead with 7 points in the opening quarter then connected on 5 of 7 free throws in the final period to preserve the win. Fisher finished with a game-high 14 points. Teammate D. J. Shipman followed with 6 points.

Kewone Maynor and Shannon Hankins buried 3-point shots in the 1st quarter for the Eagles, and Darius Williamson added a basket.

Center Rodney Lacewell worked the paint for 3 baskets and 3 free throws to lead a 2nd half Eagle rally. Hankins, Maynor and Chace Butler threw in a basket each for East, and Maynor and Peyton Tatum sank free throws.

Lacewell topped the East Bladen scoring with 9 points. Maynor followed with 6 points, and Hankins finished with 5 points.

The Eagles, now 2-1, will travel to Gray’s Creek Monday.
