TABOR CITY – Sophmore Eric Chancy scored two touchdowns to lead East Bladen’s jayvees to a 24-0 season-opening non-conference football victory over South Columbus Thursday night.

Chancy recovered a fumble in the end zone for the first touchdown of the game. Freshman quarterback Jordan Robinson carried into the end zone for the 2-point conversion. East Bladen led 8-0 at halftime.

Chancy dashed 10 yards for his second touchdown, and sophmore Josh McKoy ran for the 2-point conversion and a 16-0 Eagle lead.

Quarterback Robinson broke loose on the keeper and bolted 60 yards for the final East Bladen touchdown. McKoy then tacked on his second 2-point conversion of the game.

Coach Ritchie Priest said that freshmen running backs Tayshaun Berkely and Lawson Hester both ran the ball well for the Eagle offense.

The defense registered a shutout for the Eagles. “The defense played really good,” said Priest. “The shutout surprised me. We’ve got a lot of new people – mostly freshmen playing. K. J. Bowen played real good on defense.”
