ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen’s Lady Eagles defeated West Bladen 22-16 Friday in their Three Rivers Conference jayvee girls basketball season finale.
West Bladen freshman Whitney McLean and East Bladen’s Brianna Phillips traded baskets in the first quarter, before Phillips sank 2 free throws, and Mariah Smith and MaKayla Dixon threw in baskets that edged East ahead 8-7 at halftime.
McLean and Azillyah McDonald threw in Lady Knight baskets in the second period, and freshman Makayla Wright made a free throw. Anniya Phillips tossed in a pair of baskets for West in the third quarter.
Smith pumped in a basket and a free throw in the third quarter, Brianna Phillips cashed in 2 free throws, and Dixon made a free throw to keep the East lead at 14-11.
Lavada Jackson fired in 2 baskets and a free throw for East in the final period. Azariah Rhode connected on 2 free throws, and Smith hit one. Wright dropped in a basket and a free throw for West, and McDonald threw in a basket.
Smith and Brianna Phillips shared scoring honors for East Bladen with 6 points each, and Lavada Jackson followed with 5 points. Wright, McLean, McDonald and Anniya Phillips scored 4 points each for the Lady Knights.
Coach Megan Kirby’s Lady Eagles finished their season with a 9-6 league record and 11-6 overall mark. West Bladen was 4-12.
