ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen’s jayvee boys built an early 14-7 lead en route to a 31-27 Three Rivers Conference basketball victory over West Bladen Friday night.

Nazire Smith sank 3 free throws and a basket, and Zamar Lewis threw in 2 baskets as the Eagles took a 9-4 lead. Keshawn Ballard tossed in both baskets for West Bladen.

Yontee Dobson and Lewis dropped in second quarter baskets, and Ahmad Powell made a free throw as the Eagle lead stretched to 14-7. Javontae Matthews canned 2 free throws for the Knights, and Josiah Brown hit one.

Lewis popped in a pair of third quarter baskets, Jacob Nixon drained a 3-point shot and another basket, and Powell bombed in a 3-ball to keep East on top 26-17. Matthews rallied the Knights with 4 free throws and a basket. Brown and Anthony Cowan connected for a basket each.

Matthews and Ballard buried final quarter 3-point shots, and Brown and Travail Baldwin contributed a basket each to the Knight attack. Nixon canned a trio of free throws, and Smith netted a basket to keep East ahead.

Lewis led the Eagles with 10 points. Nixon followed with 8 points, and Smith finished with 7 points. Matthews topped all scorers with 11 points for West, and Ballard followed with 7 points. Brown tallied 5 points.

Coach Jay Raynor’s Eagles concluded their season with the win. West Bladen finished their season with an 8-12 record.
