Pender defeated West Bladen 31-27 Tuesday in Four County Conference jayvee girls’ basketball action at West.
Sophmore Jerena Purdie tossed in 4 of her 8 points in the first period to keep the Lady Knights within 7-5. West freshman Indyah Williams pumped in all 4 of her points in the second quarter, but the Lady Patriots increased their lead to 15-10 at halftime.
Freshman Patience Parker threw in 6 of her team-high 10 points in the third period, and teammate Anna Moser nailed a 3-point shot, but West still trailed 23-17 after 3 periods.
Parker who connected on 6 of 10 foul shots in the second half added 4 more points in the final quarter. Purdie tallied 3 more points in the period, but Pender held on for the win.
West Bladen will travel to Clinton Friday for a 4:30 game.
