ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen rolled to a 2-0 non-conference jayvee volleyball victory over East Columbus Monday by set scores of 25-13 and 25-5.

Sophomore Mollie Tolar vaulted the Lady Eagles in front 8-6 in the opening set with a string of 4 consecutive service points. Sophomores Mary Frances Sutton and Martha Simmons reeled off runs of 5 straight service points each as the winners’ lead grew to 21-10.

Sophomore Iveonna “NeNe” Ward started the 2nd set with 7 straight service points. Zoe Smith blew the set open winning 8 consecutive service points for a 19-3 lead, and Sutton served out the set with 5 straight service points.

Smith finished with 9 service points, 2 aces, 2 attacks and a dig to lead the Lady Eagles. Ward rang up 8 service points, 2 aces, 6 attacks and 3 kills. Simmons drilled in 3 kills, 2 aces, 5 service points and 4 attacks.

Sutton slammed in 7 attacks, 3 kills, 2 aces and 5 service points. Tolar tallied 4 service points, 2 attacks and a kill. Freshman Jenna Brice banged in an ace and a service point. Rylee Brice had a dig, and freshman Aubrie Nixon had an attack.

Coach Jessica Eason’s Lady Eagles improved to 5-4 and will host Fairmont Wednesday at 4:30.
