CERRO GORDO – Freshman Kali Allen started the match with 7 straight service points to spark West Bladen to a 16-2 lead en route to a 2-0 non-conference jayvee volleyball victory over West Columbus Monday by set scores of 25-8 and 25-8.
Allen finished with 10 service points that included 5 aces. Kierra Lewis banged in 5 kills and 2 service points. Freshman Natalee Sykes drilled in 4 aces, 3 other service points and a kill. Emme Bryant hammered in 4 aces and 4 other service points.
Helaina Conklin blasted in 4 kills for the winners. Freshman Brenna Hester knocked in 3 service points and a kill. Sophomore Marlie Walters tallied 3 service points and an ace. Sophomore Marlene Crabtree pounded in 2 kills and a service point.
Tah’lea Bethea and freshmen Jahyra Priest and Jaylyn Clark belted in 1 kill each for West Bladen.
Coach Kaitlyn Sykes’ Lady Knights, now 4-5, return to Southeastern Athletic Conference play Tuesday night at Fairmont.
