ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen’s jayvee volleyball claimed their 3rd win of the week Thursday 2-0 over West Columbus in Waccamaw Conference action by set scores of 25-11 and 25-22.

Freshman Kaylie Atkins blistered the court with 9 consecutive service points that carried the Lady Eagles to an early 10-0 lead in the 1st set. Freshman Marlee Potter tallied a service point, before sophomore Aubrei Nixon delivered 7 consecutive service points to stretch the East lead to 20-6. Freshmen Tatum Allen and Taylor Dowless captured service points, before a West side-out ended the set.

Atkins and sophomore Mileigh Martin scored early service points for East in the 2nd set, but West Columbus edged ahead 12-9. Potter rallied the Lady Eagles into a 15-13 lead with a 5-point service run. Another Martin service point and 2 each from Allen and Dowless stretched the lead to 23-19. Sophomore Jenna Brice served out the match.

Atkins led the East servers with 11 service points. Nixon followed with 7 service points, and Potter racked up 6 service points. Allen and Dowless finished with 3 service points each. Martin added 2 service points, and Brice scored the final service point of the match.

Coach Jessica Eason’s Lady Eagles raised their record to 3-1 in conference play and 6-5 overall. East Bladen will travel to Whiteville Tuesday.
