LAKE WACCAMAW – East Columbus defeated East Bladen 2-0 Thursday in Waccamaw Conference junior varsity volleyball action by set scores of 25-15 and 25-20.

Freshmen Marlee Potter and Tatum Allen banged in 2 service points each to keep the Lady Eagles within 8-7 in the opening set, but East Columbus closed the set with a 17-8 spurt.

Freshmen Kaylie Atkins reeled off 5 straight service points in the 2nd set to put the Lady Eagles up 6-2. The Lady Gators rallied back in front 14-12, but 2 more Atkins’ service points edged East Bladen back on top 15-14. An 11-5 East Columbus run ended the match.

Atkins led the Lady Eagles with 11 service points. Allen finished with 4 service points, and Potter tallied 3 service points. Freshman Taylor Dowless and sophomore Jenna Brice added 1 service point each.

The Lady Eagles are now 2-4 in league play and 7-8 overall and will host Pender Tuesday.
