CLINTON – West Bladen’s Lady Knights pulled out a 16-14 victory in the 3rd set to edge Clinton 3-1 Thursday in the Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee volleyball opener for both teams by set scores of 25-18, 23-25 and 16-14.
Sophomore Marlie Walters poured in 11 service points, 3 aces, 3 kills and had 1 dig to lead the West attack. Freshman Kali Allen racked up 7 service points, 3 assists, 1 ace and a kill. Freshman Jaylyn Clark knocked in 3 kills, a block and 3 service points.
Tah’leia Bethea blasted in 4 kills and 2 blocks for the Lady Knights. Freshman Natalee Sykes tallied 4 service points, 3 assists and 1 ace. Helaina Conklin pounded in 3 kills.
Freshmen Makenna Thurman and Jahyra Priest spiked in 2 kills each for the winners. Freshman Brenna Hester delivered 2 service points, and Emme Bryant added an ace.
Coach Kaitlyn Sykes’ Lady Knights, now 3-4, will host East Bladen Thursday.
