DUNN – Midway defeated East Bladen 2-0 Thursday in the Southeastern Athletic Conference junior varsity volleyball opener for both teams by set scores of 25-15 and 25-10.
Midway jumped to leads of 6-0 and 14-6, before Molly Evans knocked in a pair of service points to trim the margin to 17-12. Four service points from Midway’s Gracyn Hall stretched the lead to 24-13.
Four Sarah Autry service points opened up a 9-5 Midway lead in the 2nd set, before Sara Beth Benton reeled off 12 consecutive service points for a 22-7 edge.
Evans led the Lady Eagles with 4 service points, and Zoe Smith, Mary Frances Sutton and Mollie Tolar tallied 2 service points each. Iveonna “NeNe” Ward added 1 service point.
The Lady Eagles, now 2-4, will host Clinton Tuesday.
