BLADENBORO – West Bladen pulled away in the 3rd and deciding set as the Lady Knights edged East Columbus 2-1 by set scores of 23-25, 25-23 and 15-6 in non-conference junior varsity volleyball action.
Kimberly Dowless filled up the stat sheet for West with 11 service points that included an ace, 7 assists, 2 kills and 4 attacks. Sophomore Brenna Hester lit up the scoreboard with 9 service points that included 4 aces and had 1 dig. Tah’lea Bethea banged in 9 attacks, 2 kills, an ace and 3 other service points.
Lady Knight sophomore Kali Allen handed out 4 assists and added 3 service points, 3 digs, a kill and an attack. Freshman Ellie Kinlaw battered the defense with 18 attacks, 7 kills and a block. Sophomore Jahyra Priest slammed in 2 attacks, 3 service points, a kill and had a dig.
Sophomore Makenna Thurman hammered in 7 kills and 13 attacks for the winners. Shanna Lewis drilled in an ace, a kill and 5 attacks. Freshman Karlee Gause knocked in 2 aces, another service point and an attack. Helaina Conklin swatted in a kill and an attack.
Coach Kaitlyn Sykes’ Lady Knight jayvees improved to 5-3 and will host Lakewood Sept. 7th.
