ELIZABETHTOWN – Brace yourselves for an unforgettable evening of soulful tunes and captivating performances as Kendrix Singletary and the Radio Boxx Band hit the stage this Friday, August 11, at the Cape Fear Farmers Market. This highly-anticipated event is part of the much-loved Sunset Jams Concert Series, proudly presented by the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.
Kendrix Singletary, a seasoned and versatile artist, has long been a crowd favorite in the region. Many will recognize him as the former lead singer for the renowned Blackwater Rhythm and Blues band, which secured the coveted title of 2016 Carolina Beach Music’s Group of the Year. Adding to his accolades, Kendrix himself was honored as the 2016 Carolina Beach Music’s Male Vocalist of the Year, solidifying his place as a true music sensation.
From an early age, Kendrix displayed an innate talent for the stage, beginning his musical journey at the tender age of five, singing praises in his church choir. Recognizing his exceptional potential and undeniable passion, his parents wholeheartedly supported his musical ambitions, enlisting him in various performance opportunities, talent shows, and county fair events. With over 30 theatre credits to his name by the time he reached high school, Kendrix was destined for a remarkable career in the performing arts.
A proud alumnus of the prestigious University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Kendrix now serves as the Resident Artist and Production Manager at the Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater in Lumberton, North Carolina. Transitioning from performer to director has allowed him to impart his expertise and knowledge to aspiring performers, working “behind the scenes” with the theater.
Drawing from his extensive theater background, Kendrix infuses every musical performance with an unparalleled charisma that captivates audiences. His impressive repertoire includes notable appearances in Broadway’s Tony award-winning show, “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “Miss Saigon,” and the National Tour of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” featuring Ted Neeley from the original motion picture. His talents have graced international stages, from the floating stage of Carnival Cruise Lines to captivating audiences in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, Nassau, Bahamas, and Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
This not-to-be-missed concert is entirely free, thanks to the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and its generous sponsors. The Radio Boxx Band will be rocking the stage from 6 pm to 9 pm, creating an electric atmosphere that will have everyone moving and grooving. Remember to leave your coolers at home, but don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs for a night of musical bliss under the stars.
