ELIZABETHTOWN – The Bladen County Board of Education approved Kris Williams as the new Head Football Coach at West Bladen High School Monday night in their monthly meeting.

Williams has been on staff at West Bladen and assisted with varsity football for six years. He has been the jayvee football head coach for the last three years.

A Laurinburg native and a 1995 graduate of Scotland High School, Williams played football on some very good Fighting Scot football teams. He graduated from UNC-Pembroke in 1999.

“I am excited for the opportunity,” said Coach Williams. “It is all about the kids. They are the reason that I do it. Sure we all want to win, but the kids are the most important reason for me.”

About his offensive plans Williams said, “What we do will depend on our personnel. I have been here long enough to see what has worked and what hasn’t worked. We will still do some of what we have done before.”

A love for coaching football runs in the Williams family. His brother, Greg Williams, is the Assistant Head Coach at Richmond Senior High School.
