Former East Bladen High School football standout Larrell Murchison had a tackle Sunday night as the Tennessee Titans defeated the Los Angeles Rams 28-16.

Murchison and Naquan Jones combined to tackle Rams’ running back Darrell Henderson Jr. after a 4-yard gain midway through the first quarter during Los Angeles’ second possession of the game.

The Titans’ defense intercepted Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford twice in the first quarter, returning one for a touchdown and setting up a short touchdown drive with the other.

Murchison played 17 plays on the defensive line and four plays on special teams during Sunday night’s game, according to pro-football-reference.com.

Tennessee remained in the first place in the AFC South following Sunday’s win with a 7-2 record and are three games ahead of second-place Indianapolis.

For the season, Murchison has five tackles, including three solo tackles. He started on the defensive line in the first two games of the season against Arizona and Seattle. He played a season-high 45 plays in the season-opening 38-13 loss to Arizona.

Murchison missed three games this season because of an elbow injury he suffered Sept. 26 during Tennessee’s 25-16 win against Indianapolis.

Murchison, 24, is in his second season with the Titans after being drafted in the fifth round of 2020 NFL draft.

As a rookie in 2020, Murchison played in 10 games and had five tackles and a tackle for loss. He also played in Tennessee’s 20-13 playoff game loss against the Baltimore Ravens and was credited with assisting on a tackle.

Murchison graduated from N.C. State in 2019 with a degree in sports management.
