Lumberton’s run toward the Dixie Belles Girls Softball World Series Championship fell three runs short Wednesday night as Pine Prairie, LA claimed the title with an 8-5 victory in the championship game in West Monroe, LA.
Carley Dawson blasted a 2-run homer over the fence In Wednesday’s first game as Lumberton outslugged Paxton, FL 8-5 to advance to the title game. Carley Dawson, Abby Dawson and Conner Brisson are three Bladen County girls who are playing on the Lumberton team.
After a last inning rally lifted Marion, SC to a 6-5 victory over Lumberton in Saturday’s opener, Lumberton won four games in a row to reach the final game.
