Former East Bladen star Maya McDonald fired in a pair of 1st half goals as her Cape Fear Community College Sea Devils battled Spartanburg Methodist to a 2-2 tie in their season opener.

After the Pioneers scored an early goal, McDonald turned a feed from Halie Blizzard into a goal at the 23:55 mark of the 1st half. Thirteen minutes later McDonald struck again with a goal off of a Sarah Smith assist that put the Sea Devils up 2-1 at halftime.

The Pioneers tied the game 2-2 with just over 17 minutes remaining. McDonald finished the game with the 2 goals and 5 shots on goal.

Cape Fear shutout Division I foe USC-Sumter 6-0 Tuesday in the Sea Devils home opener. McDonald had 7 shots on goal against the Fire Ants.

Cape Fear Community, now 1-0-1, will return to the pitch Wednesday, Sept. 6th with a return match at USC-Sumter.
