BLADENBORO – Junior Gabe Barber fired in a pair of first-half goals to lead East Bladen to a 3-0 Three Rivers Conference men’s soccer victory over rival West Bladen Wednesday night.

Coach Jay Raynor’s Eagles have clinched the TRC championship with a 12-1 league record and 16-1-2 overall mark. East Bladen only has a league game at Whiteville Tuesday left in their regular season.

Junior Jake Evans scored the other Eagle goal and also contributed an assist on one of the Barber goals. The Eagles scored all 3 of their goals in the first half.

Senior Spencer Scott went the distance in goal for the Eagles and was credited with 3 saves while recording the shutout.

Knight Coach Phillip Turnage was proud of his team’s defensive effort in the second half. “They didn’t score on us in the second half even after we had to play with ten players,” said Turnage. “Angel (Martinez) played a great game in goal.”

The Knights are now 6-6 in league play and will host West Columbus Saturday at 10 a.m. in a make-up game.
