Tar Heel native Michael Inman pitched 7 strong innings Saturday to lead Methodist University to an 8-3 USA South Conference victory over N. C. Wesleyan in Wilson.

Inman struck out 4 and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks as he raised his record to 4-1 on the season. The senior right-hander has struck out 19 batters in 37 innings and has a 2.92 earned run average.

At one point in the sixth and seventh innings, both pitchers of record in the game were former West Bladen Knight teammates as Macon Hammond came on in relief for Wesleyan.

Hammond entered the game with a runner at second base and 2-out in the sixth and retired the first batter he faced on a pop-up to first.

The junior right-hander got the first batter in the seventh on a come-backer to the mound, before surrendering a run on 3 singles.

Methodist improved to 21-6 in the USA South and 29-8 overall with the victory.
