NAKINA – Ashton Davis and Hunter Hester teamed up to pitch a no-hitter and strike-out 14 batters as unbeaten Bladenboro defeated Nakina 8-0 Monday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.

Hester started and struck out the side in his 2 innings on the mound but issued 3 walks. Davis relieved him in the 3rd inning and struck out 8 batters in his 4 innings of work. Davis hit 2 batters, walked none and picked up the victory.

Davis walked to begin the Bulldog 2nd inning, advanced on a passed ball and raced home when Chase Bryan ripped a single to left for a 1-0 lead.

Jonah Bryan walked to start the Bladenboro 3rd inning and dashed home when Hester pounded a double into the left field corner. After Weston Hilburn walked, Davis laced a single to center field that scored Hester and Hilburn. Davis advanced on an error and Chase Bryan followed with a single as the lead grew to 5-0.

Gavin Elks drew a 2-out walk in the Bulldog 6th inning, and scampered home when Hester smashed a single to center field. Hilburn walked, and Davis reached base on an error as Hester and Hilburn scored to grow the lead to 8-0.

Chase Bryan batted 3-for-4 with a run batted in to lead the Bladenboro hitters. Hester finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Elks slammed a double and scored a run. Hilburn singled and scored twice. Davis singled and scored twice.

Coach Tim Benton’s Bulldogs improved to 3-0 and will host Elizabethtown Wednesday at 4 p.m.
