TAR HEEL – Ryne Priest pitched a 2-hitter and struck out 5 batters Tuesday to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 20-1 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Tar Heel.
Coach Robert Mazur’s Blue Devils will host Nakina Wednesday. Tar Heel will visit Bladenboro Wednesday.
Zahmarion Pone batted 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored to lead the Blue Devil hitters. Jerod Smith singled, walked 3 times and scored 4 runs. Omar Powell singled, walked twice and scored 3 runs. Prince Powell was hit by a pitch, reached on an error and scored 3 runs.
Cayden Morton smacked a single and scored 3 runs. Owen Hall laced a single, walked twice and scored 2 runs. Priest walked 3 times and scored twice. Cayden Stocks walked 3 times and scored a run, and Isaiah Atkins walked and scored.
Daveon Whittington cracked a lead-off single and scored the Panther run in the 1st inning. Dylan McLaurin started on the mound for Tar Heel and also connected for the other Panther hit in the 2nd inning.
