HALLSBORO – East Columbus exploded for 7 runs in the 4th inning to close out a 12-2 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Tar Heel.

Nick Rye and Zay Hines cracked singles for the Hawks who scored 3 runs in the 1st inning and added 2 runs in the third. Winning pitcher Gauge Simmons belted a single in the 3rd inning.

Ryan Dove smacked a double to centerfield in the Tar Heel 3rd inning. Dove broke for 3rd base on a pitch in the dirt and raced home when the catcher’s throw sailed into leftfield to trim the East lead to 3-1.

Kasey Nichols walked to begin the Panther 4th inning and sprinted home when Ahmarie White hammered a double to leftfield that whittled the margin to 5-2.

Dove batted 2-for-2 with 2 doubles and a run scored to lead the Tar Heel hitters. White doubled and picked up a run batted in. Seth Faircloth belted a single for the other Panther hit.

Mason Jones started on the mound and pitched the 1st 3 innings for Tar Heel. Faircloth came on in relief in the 4th inning.
