BaseballELIZABETHTOWN – Elizabethtown pounded out 12 hits and defeated Clarkton School of Discovery 14-1 Tuesday in Bladen Five Middle School Conference baseball action.
 
Zach Meares started on the mound for the Cougars and picked up the win. Grayson Clark relieved and gave up one unearned run in hit 2 innings on the hill. Drew Sholar pitched the final inning for the Cougars.
 
Jay McKoy batted 2-2 and scored 3 runs to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Meares turned in a 2-3 game at the plate, and Ty Mathis was a perfect 2-2 at the plate.
 
Chase Starkloff, Clark, Freddie Wooten, Brady Hollingsworth, Raymond Autry and Jackson Wright connected for one hit each for the winners.
 
Elizabethtown scored 3 runs in the first inning, 2 more in the second and 5 runs in the third to build a 10-0 lead. The Cougars tacked on 4 runs in the fourth inning.
 
The Blue Devil run came in the fourth inning. Jacob Priest and Jacob Bryan belted one hit each for Clarkton.  J. T. Junious started on the mound for the Blue Devils and was relieved by Andrew Kahn in the third inning.
 
Elizabethtown will host Tar Heel Thursday, while Clarkton School of Discovery will entertain Bladenboro.
