ELIZABETHTOWN – Whiteville Central defeated Elizabethtown 12-1 Thursday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.

Central scored a single run in the 1st inning, 6 more runs in the 2nd inning and added 4 runs in the 3rd inning to build an 11-0 lead.

Elizabethtown’s Adonis Smith ripped a 1-out single to leftfield in the home 3rd. Chace Butler smacked a single but was retired on Colton Daly’s fielder’s choice. Smith raced home as C. J. McCracken reached base on an error.

Butler and Smith had the only hits for the Cougars. Braylon Cromartie started on the mound for Elizabethtown.

It was the 1st loss for the Cougars, now 2-1. They will travel to East Columbus Tuesday at 4 p.m.
