West Bladen won the 3-team drawing for the Three Rivers Conference’s No. 2 berth in the NCHSAA Class 2A Softball State Playoffs. TRC President Russell Dove conducted the drawing Friday morning in accordance with NCHSAA Rules Section 4.1.13c (7).
After Thursday’s play, West Bladen, East Bladen and Whiteville were all tied with identical 6-2 records and were even in their head-to-head match-ups. West Bladen drew the No. 2 spot, East Bladen received the No. 3 spot and Whiteville was placed No. 4.
The softball brackets will be released Saturday, and the playoffs will begin Monday night. West Bladen is assured of a berth. East Bladen and Whiteville would have to receive a Wild Card berth to get in, and no Three Rivers team in any sport has received a Wild Card spot since the number of playoff teams has been reduced due to coronavirus concerns.
