BLADENBORO –Jaquan Lesane fired in 10 of his game-high 12 points in the opening quarter to spark Bladenboro to an early 16-2 lead and eventual 38-21 non-conference middle school boys basketball victory over Elizabethtown Tuesday night.
Lesane filled up the rims with a 3-point shot, a trio of 2-point baskets and a free throw. Kendell Lesane, Blake Britt and Keonta Hill tossed in a basket each as the Bulldogs built the 16-2 lead. Tykee Hill dropped in the Cougar basket.
Sayvion Covington pumped in a basket and a free throw for Bladenboro in the 2nd period, and Ashton Davis and Kendell Lesane added baskets as the lead grew to 23-4. Nathan Demery popped in the Cougar basket.
Keonta Hill scorched the nets with 3 baskets in the 3rd quarter. Kendell Lesane worked the paint for 2 baskets and a free throw, and Jaquan Lesane flipped in a basket to pad the lead to 36-12. Demery buried a 3-point shot for the Cougars, and Tykee Hill connected on 3 free throws. John Monroe delivered the other Elizabethtown basket.
Jaden Lewis rang up a pair of baskets for the Cougars in the final quarter. Tykee Hill powered in a basket and a free throw, and Monroe netted a basket. Devin Stanley scored the Bulldog basket in the 4th period.
Kendell Lesane finished with 9 points for Bladenboro, and Keonta Hill followed with 8 points. Tykee Hill led the Cougars with 8 points. Demery totaled 5 points, and Lewis and Monroe chipped in with 4 points each.
Coach Joe Gore’s Bulldogs, now 4-0, will travel to Nakina Thursday, while Elizabethtown, now 1-3, will host Whiteville Central Thursday.
